Stevens, William D., “Bill”, 95, Amber Hills at Cambria Care Center, formerly of Vinco, passed away on Sept. 7, 2020. Born Aug. 1, 1925, son of the late Clifford and Eva (Griffith) Stevens. Also preceded in death by wife, LaVerne (Volk), brother Dale Stevens; and son-in-law Thomas Frederick. Survived by daughter, Karen Frederick (Paul) Combis, Vinco; grandsons, William “Bill” (Tara) Frederick of Chesapeake, VA; Bryan (Krystyne) Frederick of Brunswick, ME; great grandsons, Ryan (Naome) Frederick, U.S. Army, serving in Korea; and Bradley Frederick, of Virginia Beach, VA; also survived by sister, Betty Altimus, of Westlake, OH; half sister Joanne (David) Grata; and half-brother, Gary (Paulette) Stevens. A WW ll Marine Corps Veteran serving in the South Pacific. Retired railroader with 35 years’ service with PRR, Penn Central, Conrail, CB&L and C&I, where he served as superintendent until his retirement. Bill also drove bus, and tour bus for Blue and White, McIllwain and Lodestar. He also assisted and drove for Harris Funeral Home and Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel for many years. Member of Vinco Brethren Church, where he served as Moderator, Deacon and Sunday School teacher. Also, member of Greater Johnsown Lodge # 538 F&AM; Scottish Rite, Valley of Altoona and Jaffa Shriners. Family and friends received 5-7 pm Thursday Sept. 10, at Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, Conemaugh, where Service will be held at 11 am Friday. Pastor Zak Yonko, officiating and military rites by Conemaugh Valley Detachment, Marine corps League. Masonic Service at 6:45 pm Thursday.  Private interment at Richland Cemetery.  Family requests masks and social distancing due to Covid-19. The family also would like to thank the staff at Amber Hills and Asera Care Hospice for all they did for Bill. The caring and compassion they showed was very much appreciated.
