Sievers, William R., 81, Richland Township. Went to be with the Lord in Heaven on March 22, 2016. Born on July 19, 1934 in Johnstown. Son of Edward and Alice I. (Williamson) Sievers. Preceded in death by his parents; brother, Edward; half-brothers, William and Eugene Smith; great granddaughter, Hannah Vassilaros; and brother-in-law, Paul Hicks. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Lois (Eplett) Sievers; and beloved children, Terri, wife of George Vassilaros, Aurora, CO; Karen, wife of James Sala, Davidsville; William A., married to the former Kathleen Nosko, Johnstown; Valerie, wife of James Schellhammer, Johnstown; and Timothy, married to the former Birgitta Featheringham, North Potomic, MD. Also survived by his beloved sixteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He left behind sisters, Dolores Hicks, Abbottstown, PA; and Mary “Toni” (James) Vizzini, Johnstown; and many nieces and nephews. Also sisters-in-law, Irene Sievers, Virginia Beach, VA; Carol Eplett, FL and Sandra Miller, Johnstown; and life-long childhood friends, Ed and Joanne Houser. Bill was raised in Dilltown and graduated from United High School in 1952. In 1954, he became a Plumber’s Apprentice, eventually becoming a member of the Plumbers & Pipe Fitters Local Union #354. He retired at the end of 1995 as a Plumbing Superintendent for Kircon-Breco. Member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Geistown. Bill loved to hunt with his son and grandson as well as playing golf and bowling. Bill was a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather. Lovingly referred to as “Dad” and “Pap Pap”, he enjoyed family gatherings above all. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Saturday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where Vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 AM on Monday at St. Benedict Church. Fr. David S. Peles, Pastor. Committal will be at Richland Cemetery. The family suggests contributions be directed to Alzheimer’s Association, 1100 Liberty Ave. Suite E201, Pittsburgh, PA 15222 or Windber Hospice, 600 Somerset Ave., Windber, PA 15963 in memory of William.
