Knipple, William Matthew, 83, died January 6, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center. Born September 3, 1929 in Johnstown, son of William Findley and Lillian (Lewis) Knipple. Survived by wife Mary Theresa (Boxler) Knipple, to whom he was married for 56 years; sons William Mark and Robert and his daytime canine companion, Dudley. Bill was a devoted husband and father, beloved âUncle Billâ and brother-in-law, and friend to many. A Veteran of the United States Army. Bill was a proud graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Engineering and retired from Bethlehem Steel Corporationâs Bar, Rod and Wire Division. He was a lifetime member of the Oakland Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as treasurer for many years. Bill was President of the Stonycreek Township Board Commissioners, which recently earned him recognition by the Pennsylvania State Association of Townships for 48 years of continuous service. He will be remembered for his steadfast commitment to his family, his sense of humor, and his incredibly generous soul. Bill was a devoted member of St. Matthewâs Anglican Church. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. on Wednesday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland. Funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. on Thursday at the Oakland United Methodist Church, 15904 Bedford Street, Johnstown, PA 15902, Father Douglas Blakelock. Interment at Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the deceased requested donations be made to the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf, 300 Swissvale Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15218 in memory of William.
