Herdman – William, F. Sr., “Bill”, 88, Richland Township, went to be with the Lord on July 22, 2016 at Windber Hospital. Born on October 18, 1927 in Johnstown, son of Frank and Florence G. (White) Herdman. Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patricia G. (Silbaugh) Herdman; infant daughter, Mary Anne; son, William F. Jr.; siblings, Paul, Maurice “Moe”, Donald, Mary K. Callihan, Robert, and Kenneth “Ken”. He is survived by his loving children, Judy A., wife of Joseph “Sole” M. Solensky, Windber, Michael P., married to the former Deborah A. Keifline, Richland Township, John J., Richland Township, and Ronald F. Herdman, married to David Lavery, Wilmington, DE; grandchildren, Laurie (Thomas) Karl, Richland Township, Scott (Misty) Herdman, Richland Township, Justin (Jess) Herdman, San Diego, CA, Tawnya (Tim) Plunkard, Windber, D.J. (Jana) Sabo, Cape Coral, FL, Jason Sabo, Massillon, OH, Ryan Solensky and his fiancée, Laura Donatelli, both of Pittsburgh, and Megan Herdman, Richland Township;15 great grandchildren; siblings, Janet L., wife of Raymond Newcomer, Pittsburgh, Raymond, married to the former Remont Michaels, Detroit, MI, Beverly A., wife of Gary Long, Richland Township, Elizabeth J. “Betsy”, wife of John Reitz, H. Karen, wife of Ralph Wilson, and Kathleen F., wife of Thomas Williams, all of Upper Yoder Township and numerous nieces and nephews. Bill was a US Army Veteran serving during WW II. He retired from Galliker’s Dairy after 45 years of service. Bill was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church; Menoher Post #155 V.F.W., Windber Moose Lodge #349, and the Richland American Legion Post #849. He enjoyed NASCAR, duck pin bowling, and watching football. Bill especially loved spending time with his family. Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. on Monday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where Vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Fr. David S. Peles, Pastor. Committal will be at Richland Cemetery with military rites conducted by Menoher Post #155 VFW Ritual Team.
