Coyle – William J. Sr., “Pexie”, 91, of Geistown Borough, went to be with the Lord on October 17, 2016 at Conemaugh Medical Center. Born on January 28, 1925 in Johnstown, son of James and Emma M. (Gonda) Coyle. Preceded in death by parents; brothers and sisters, James; Patricia Wavrek, and Richard E.; nieces, Rebecca C. Wavrek and Michele (Czuplak) Barkley, and nephews, Michael Czuplak and Sam Denovich. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Amelia (Denovich) Coyle, Geistown Borough; sons, Mark R, married to the former Linda R. Gates, Upper Yoder Township and William J. Jr, Geistown Borough; grandchildren, Ryan W. Coyle, Dr. of Pharmacy, Harrisburg, PA and Kirsten E. Coyle, who is currently attending the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy; sister, Rita Lee, wife of Calvin Beltz, Richland Township; sisters-in-law, Rose Coyle, Pittsburgh, PA and Joan Coyle, Richland Township; 7 nephews and 7 nieces, who he loved equally “they were all good kids”. Bill’s life of adventure began in his early teen years, having joined the Civilian Conservation Corp. (CCC) serving in the state of Montana, working to build parks and roads that still exist today. He was a US Navy Veteran from 1943-1946, serving during WW II. He completed basic training at Sampson Naval Base, NY; and US Marine Corps. Amphibious Training in San Bruno, CA. Following Naval service Bill was also a Merchant Marine from 1946-1951. He began his railroad career as a fireman on steam locomotives and later retired as an Engineer from the Conemaugh & Black Lick Railroad with 39 years of service. He was a member of St. John Gaulbert Cathedral. Bill had a love for fly fishing and the art of fly tying. His skills were unsurpassed and shared with many. He enjoyed the many comforts of home, including home cooked meals, a clean and warm home, and the best of health care. Bill’s health was preserved, comforted, and extended by Dr. Massoud and his staff of “The Girls”. Additional appreciation and respect to Dr. George Frem and Associates; ICU staff; Dr.’s Clagett, Gonzalez, and Malik; and the nursing staff. Bill gave quietly and without expectation; joyfully much was returned. His wish would be for: Opportunity, Fairness, and Peace for all. May God Bless. A private Memorial Service will be held at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, Fr. James F. Crookston. Entombment will be at Grandview Cemetery Mausoleum.
