Caldwell, William J., 80, of East Conemaugh Borough, formerly of Penn Run, PA, passed away on December 26, 2011 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born on July 8, 1931 in Johnstown. Son of Richard and Margaret (Reighard) Caldwell. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Laverne J. (Zilke) Caldwell. He is survived by his loving daughters, Jean M. wife of John E. Fyock, Penn Run, PA and Tracy A. Caldwell, Johnstown; grandchildren, Catherine Fyock, Merchantville, NJ, Sarah wife of Matthew Rapach, Williamsburg, VA, Carolyn wife of Christopher Foose, Millerstown, PA and Seth Fyock, Penn Run; great grandchildren, Abigail, David, and Nathan Rapach all of Williamsburg, VA; brother-in-law, Donald Zilke, Johnstown; sister-in-law, Susan Zilke, Johnstown; several nieces, nephews and many friends. Bill was a graduate of East Conemaugh High School. He was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. Bill was employed as a 2nd helper in the Open Hearth Department at Bethlehem Steel and later retired after 31 years of employment as a Sub Station Operator for PENELEC. He was a former member of St. Johnn the Baptist Catholic Church, Heilwood, PA and a current member of Ss. Gregory and Barnabas Parish, Bon Air. Bill was a Former Council member of Geistown Borough and former member of the Geistown Volunteer Fire Company, Geistown Lions Club, Cambria County Young Democrats, IBEW Union. He was in the Johnstown Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps., and later in the Ebensburg Legionnaires and Latrobe Colonials Drum and Bugle Corps.  Bill was also a member of the Conemaugh Volunteer Fire Company, President of the Conemaugh Lions Club, Western PA Fireman’s Association, a former Mayor of East Conemaugh, Knights of Columbus Johnstown Council #467, Knights of Columbus Johnstown All Saints Assembly #0954, Fraternal Order of Eagles #Aerie 1811, Conemaugh and current Council Member of East Conemaugh Borough. He was also employed at the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, East Conemaugh for over 20 years. Family and friends will be received from 2-8 P.M. on Wednesday at the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, where Vigil for the deceased will be held. Council #467 will recite the Rosary at 7 P.M. and All Saints Assembly will stand guard from 6-8 P.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Funeral mass will be held at 10 A.M. on Thursday at Ss. Gregory and Barnabas Parish, Bon Air, Rev. Father Robert Ruston. Committal will be at Grandview Cemetery with military rites conducted by Menoher Post #155 VFW Ritual Team. The family suggests contributions be directed to either the Conemaugh Volunteer Fire Company or to the Duke Andrews Youth Basketball League in memory of Bill.
