William G. Bigam

Bigam– William, “Bill”  83, Salix, went to be with the Lord on May 21, 2020 at home surrounded by his family. Born on February 24, 1937 in Johnstown, son of James and Romayne (Kauffman) Bigam. Preceded in death by parents and brothers, Gary and Donald Bigam. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Doris (Sipe) Bigam; daughter, Kimberly Bigam; grandchildren, Angela Arendas (fiancé Cris Brandle); great-grandchildren, CiennaLinn Billetdeaux and Gavin Brandle; brother, Richard Bigam, married to former Joann Coley; and several nieces and nephews. Bill was a 1955 graduate of Johnstown High School. He was a US Marine Veteran who served in the U.S Marine Corp. -34th Special Infantry from 1953 to 1965, under the authority of Commander John P. Murtha. Bill retired from Bethlehem Steel after 39 years of service as a Mill Wright. He earned his certificate in Welding after he retired from Johnstown Vo-Tech. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with his wife Dorrie, and later his grandchildren. He was a very avid reader of history and loved doing crossword puzzles and having family get-togethers. Bill was a former member of the Moxham Christian Church from the time he was a young boy and married his high school sweetheart in the same church. Growing up in the same church, he also served as a deacon, elder of the church, secretary to the board, and finally chairman of the board. He was also a lay speaker until he found his present home with the Salix Bethel United Methodist Church. Bill was treasurer of the Adams Township Water Authority from 1979 – 2019. He also was a majority inspector of elections for Adams Township #1, Cambria County from 1997 – 2005. Due to the public health concerns there will be private family viewing and service at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, with Pastor Donald Poole officiating.  Private interment at Richland Cemetery.
