 MEYER----Wayne E., 88, Johnstown, passed away on February 3, 2024. Born January 10, 1937, in Johnstown, son of Harry and Rose (Pudliner) Meyer. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Harry “Hats” Jr., parents-in-law, Harry and Mary Beatty, son-in-law, George Wise, sister-in-law, Janet Haupt, brother-in-law, Les Sellers and precious fur baby, Coco. Survived by loving wife of 67 years, Laura (Beatty) Meyer, four children, Wayne E. Meyer II (Nancy), Roxanne (Meyer) Wise, Julianne (Meyer) Harrison (Chris) and James Meyer (Lesley); grandchildren, Stone and Morgan Harrison; also survived by sister, Rose Harford (David) and brother, Wade (Marianne); many nieces and nephews and fur baby, Champ. Wayne graduated from the former Dale High School in 1954. He was a US Air Force veteran. Member of Zion Lutheran Church where he sang with the choir. Wayne was former Sales Manager of Metropolitan Life Insurance Co., President of LFS Inc. (a financial service corporation), co-owner of J.W. Outlet (A shoe and clothing outlet in Geistown) and retired from Brett Insurance Agency in Johnstown. Among a number of professional designations, the two that meant the most to him were CLU (Chartered Life Underwriter) and CMFC (Chartered Mutual Fund Counselor). Member of Johnstown Lodge #538 Free & Accepted Masons 32nd, member of the Valley of Altoona, past president of the Estate Planning Council of Cambria and Somerset Counties and Johnstown Kiwanis Club. Wayne enjoyed sports, hunting and music. In his early years, he played second chair trombone with the Johnstown Symphony Orchestra, taught private lessons, played solos for special services at his church, played with dance bands, combos and the Johnstown Reed Band. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. His biggest enjoyment in life was spending time with his family and friends. The family will receive friends from 2 to 8 p.m., Thursday, February 6, 2025 at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where Masonic Service will be held at 6:45 p.m. Thursday. Friends will also be receive from 10 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 11 a.m. Friday, February 7, 2025 at Zion Lutheran Church, 613 Locust St., Johnstown, with Rev. Michael Van Dyke officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the Zion Lutheran Church in memory of Wayne E. Meyer. Online condolences may be posted at www.wharrisfuneralhome.com.
