Rozum – Walter V., 88, Bon Air, went to be with the Lord on March 3, 2021 at home surrounded by his family. Born on March 11, 1932 in Johnstown, son of Walenty V. and Eva Rose (Kopec) Rozum. Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dolores J. Rozum; sons, Walter R. and Paul S.; siblings, Blanche, Frank, Stanley, Joseph, John, Mary Matala, Josephine Koterba, Dorothy “Maggie” Marhefka, Jennie Yewcic. He is survived by his loving sons, Gary J., Brian (Brenda), and George (Sharon), all of Johnstown; daughter-in-law, JoAnn Rozum, Chesterland, OH; grandchildren, Nicholas, P.J. and Brett Sanderson, Jessica (Tom) Treska, Maria (Jon) Abdelkareem, Laura Rozum, Emily, George Jr. and Matthew Rozum; great grandchildren, Brayden Sanderson, Dominic, Sophia and Ariana Treska and numerous nieces and nephews. Walter was a graduate of Franklin High School. He was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. Walter retired from Bethlehem Steel after working for over 31 years of service, and was also Vice President of the Local Steel Union. While working at Bethlehem Steel he was employed as Chief of Police for Conemaugh Township Police Department and later as a Cambria County Constable. Walter was a member of Ss. Gregory & Barnabas Chapel, Bon Air. He enjoyed playing cards, traveling, Pittsburgh Steelers, boxing, as well as socializing with everyone. Walter could always be seen sitting on his porch with ice cream. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family. Walter’s family would like to add a special thanks to his hospice aides, Birgit Crowell, Pat Kohler, R.N. Marie, and all of the Windber Hospice and the VA staff. “All the hustle and bustle and now it’s all over.” Friends will be received from 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. on Monday at the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, 229-231 First Street, Conemaugh. Funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday at Ss. Gregory & Barnabas Chapel, Bon Air, Fr. Callistus Elue, Pastor. Committal will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, with military rites conducted by Menoher Post #155 VFW Ritual Team. The family suggests contributions be directed to Windber Hospice, 600 Somerset Avenue, Windber, PA 15963 in memory of Walter. Online condolences may be posted to www.wharrisfuneralhome.com.
