Virginia Irene Hayes

Hayes – Virginia Irene, 90, Geistown, went to be with the Lord on March 1, 2017 at Richland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. Born on January 28, 1927 in Cumberland, MD, daughter of Willard E. and Mary L. (Wiland) Everett. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth E.; 1 brother and 2 sisters. She is survived by her loving children, James A., Tacoma, WA, Daniel K., married to the Lisa Mutchler, Sterling, VA, Rebecca A. Hayes, Dover, DE, and Willard E. “Willie”, Richland Township; 7 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; sister, Ethel M., wife of Patrick Goss, Cumberland, MD; sister-in-law, Gladys Everett; several nieces, nephews, and many friends, including former daughter-in-law, Barbara Hayes, Puyallup, WA. Irene was a graduate of Fort Hill High School, Cumberland, MD. She retired from Jo-Ann Fabrics, where she was employed as a manager. Irene was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, where she taught Senior Sunday School for many years. Just a few of the many things she enjoyed, were sewing, baking, making candy and cooking. Irene loved her entire family, especially her grandchildren. Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. on Sunday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, and from 9 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m. on Monday at Bethany United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Larry G. Dunn officiating. Private burial will be at Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale, MD. The family suggests contributions be directed to Alzheimer’s Association, Alz.org or to Bethany United Methodist Church 112 Leventry Road, Johnstown, PA 15904 in memory of Irene.
