Virginia M. Dishong

Dishong – Virginia M., 90, Geistown Borough, went to be with the Lord on February 16, 2016 at Laurelwood Care Center. Born on September 28, 1925 in Johnstown, daughter of Joseph and Virginia (Rievel) Gyan. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, John E. and sister-in-law, Irene (Hoffman) Gyan. She is survived by her loving sister, Joann, wife of Carl Mahan, Johnstown; brother, Joseph “Bud” Gyan, Baton Rouge, LA and several nieces and nephews. Virginia graduated in 1944 with high honors from the former Johnstown Catholic High School. She retired from M. Glosser & Sons Inc., where she was employed as a secretary. Virginia was a life member of St. Benedict Catholic Church. She loved spending time with her family, especially her sister, Joann. Friends will be received from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Monday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland. Funeral Mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Fr. David S. Peles, Pastor. Committal will be at Grandview Cemetery. The family suggests contributions be directed to St. Benedict Catholic Church, 2310 Bedford Street, Johnstown, PA 15904 in memory of Virginia.
