KOVALCHIK---Vincent Charles, 62, Westmont, passed away March 31, 2025 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born July 1, 1962 in Johnstown, PA, son of the late Charles and Pauline ( Zajdel) Szwast-Kovalchik. Preceded in death by his parents and brother, Andrew Szwast. Vince is survived by his loving wife of 21 years Lisa (Howie). Vince and Lisa were blessed with two loving and caring daughters, Elizabeth (Elle) and Katerina (Kat) Kovalchik as well as their loving fur babies Tango and Bella. Also survived by sisters, Mary Ann Uzelac, Johnstown, Paulette Szwast, Johnstown, Andrea (Szwast) Hale (Vince), Dallas, TX, brother, Victor Kovalchik (Darlene), Conemaugh, sisters-in-law, Kathy Szwast Odessa, FL, Tanya Randles (James), Maryland and Dawn Shedlock (David), Nanty Glo, numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Margie and Gary Howie. Vince was a 1980 graduate of Vo-Tech. He received his degree in Electrical Technology from the Electronic Institutes Pittsburgh, PA. Vince completed his apprenticeship and became a Journeyman Electrician with the IBEW where he was employed for 40 years and then retired. His favorite pastime was watching his girls dance/perform throughout the years. He enjoyed camping with his family, skiing and most of all spending time with their dogs. He was an avid Penguins, Steelers, Pirates and Penn State fan. Vince was a member of St. Clement Parish and a lifetime member of the Conemaugh Independence Fire Company. The family would like to thank all of the staff at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center who played a part in Vince’s care as well as the staff of Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center Hospice. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until time of Memorial Service at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 5, 2025 at Baker Funeral Chapel and Cremation Services, 229-231 First St., Conemaugh. A sincere heartfelt thank you to all our family and friends for all their loving support. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Elizabeth and Katerina’s college fund c/o Kovalchik’s 533 Princeton Avenue, Johnstown, PA 15905.
