Hornick – Vera E. “Big V”, 97 “going on 98”, Johnstown, went to be with the Lord on August 4, 2019 at home. Born on March 5, 1922 in Wilmore, daughter of Edwin and Hazel (Conrad) Tully. Preceded in death by parents, husband Richard Hornick, and son, Joseph Hornick. She is survived by her loving daughter, Mary Ann Gallucci; sons, rik and James (Debbie) Hornick; grandchildren, DJ (Christine), David (Daphne), Michael (Rosalba), Kristie (Tyler Butillo) Gallucci, Nichole (Buddy) Dowell, Justin (Carol) Hornick, and Jeremy Hornick; great grandchildren, Gavin, Grayson, and Grady Gallucci, and Gianna, Angelo, Santino, Marco, and Alessia Gallucci, Michael, Bella and Reina Gallucci, and Colton and Noah Hornick. Vera was a graduate of Johnstown High School. She was an active member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, where she volunteered for the annual church reunions from 1957 to 2019. Vera was an avid Steeler fan. She enjoyed being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who always had her door opened to family and friends. Vera enjoyed dressing up for Halloween and playing cards. She will be remembered for her many grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup meals. Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. on Thursday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where Vigil for deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 A.M. on Friday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Fr. David S. Peles, Pastor. Committal will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
