Vaughn E. Courter

Courter, Vaughn E., “Buck”, 81, of Richland Township, went to be with the Lord on January 31, 2016. He was born on January 13, 1935 in Johnstown. Son of Herman E. and Mayme (Harnish) Courter. Preceded in death by parents; wife, Naomi E. (Trapp) Courter; sister, Lt. Col. Janice Kay “Sue” Courter and niece, Kathy A. Butler. He is survived by his cousin, Pauline W., wife of Caleb G. Butler, Richland Township; nephew, Robert P. Butler, husband of Roberta Lynch, Richland Township and their 3 children, Erica Butler and her daughter Eliana Kelly Butler, Greensburg, Scott Butler, VA and Kelly (Butler) married to Luke Forrest, Pittsburgh. Vaughn was a graduate of East Conemaugh High School. He was a career US Navy and US Air Force Veteran and served during the Vietnam War. Vaughn retired from the US Air Force at Nellis Air Force Base, Las Vegas, NV after 20 years of service. He will be remembered by his friends and family as a very caring and kind man, quiet, and proud to have served his country. At Vaughn’s request there will be no public viewing. A private service and burial at Richland cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family with the Rev. Paul Scruton officiating. Military rites will be conducted by Menoher Post #155 VFW Ritual Team. The family would like to offer special thanks to the loving and caring staff of Arbutus Park Manor.
