Vitko, Thomas E. Sr., 71, of Richland. Died Sept. 17, 2014, at home. Born April 30, 1943, in Johnstown. Son of Katherine M. ( Barrese) Vitko. Preceded in death by parents, step-father, William Bisch; and brother-in-law, John Weimann. Survived by wife, Diane M. (Shopp); sons, Thomas (Carolyn) Vitko, Longs, SC; Bradley (Joseph) Vitko, Coatesville, PA; Justin (Ashley) Demiter, Murrells Inlet, SC; and Derek (Michallynn) Demiter, Pittsburgh. Grandchildren; Olivia, Trystin, Madelyn and Gavin. Brother of Lois, Gambrills, MD; Allen (Lois), Levittown, PA; Andrew (Carol), Johnstown. Brother-in-law of David (Kathy) Shopp and Daniel (Julie) Shopp; and numerous nieces and nephews. 1963 graduate of Johnstown High School. US Marine Corps Veteran. Retired Police Captain, City of Johnstown. Former supervisor of internal security, National Drug Intelligence Center. Member of Knights of Columbus, Council #467, NRA , Flood City Lodge, Fraternal Order of Police and Daisytown Sportsmenâs Club. Tom enjoyed spending time with family and his special friends, hunting, fishing and the outdoors. He loved all pets and especially his constant companion, Bella. Tomâs most recent hobby was spending time with Diane at Saddle Rock Ranch with their horse, Dakota. Friends received 2-8 PM Sunday at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where Vigil service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 AM Monday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Geistown. Fr. David S. Peles, Pastor.
