Szwast, Thomas J., âTekeâ, 63, of East Taylor Township, passed away on May 7, 2013. He was born December 7, 1949 in Johnstown. Son of the late Stanley J. and Mary (Sabo) Szwast. He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Paulette (Barbus) Szwast, East Taylor Township; son, Zachary J., East Taylor Township; brother, John (Faye) Szwast, Novi, MI; sister, Susan (Scott) Heimbuch, Dallas, TX; mother-in-law, Dorothy Barbus, East Conemaugh Borough; several nieces, nephews; great nieces and great nephews; his beloved canine companion, Dallas and many friends. Teke was a 1967 graduate of Conemaugh Valley High School. He was a US Army Veteran serving in the Vietnam War. Teke was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Johnstown. He was a retired Case Worker from DPW. Teke was an avid golfer and member of Windber Country Club. He was well known in the Conemaugh Valley area for his kind nature and friendly smile. Teke will be sadly missed by his entire family and his many friends. Friends received 2-8 P.M. on Friday and from 10 A.M. until time of service at 11 A.M. on Saturday at the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, Conemaugh, with the Rev Eleanor J. Abarno officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by Menoher Post #155 V.F.W. Ritual Team at the funeral home. Private inurnment will be held at the convenience of the family.
