Theresa Sturey

Sturey, Theresa, 84, of Cover Hill, went to be with the Lord on October 16, 2016 at Laurelwood Care Center. Born on September 3, 1932 in Johnstown, daughter of Casimir and Mary (Moran) Schultz. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Gene, and best friend, Annie Swick. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Nick Sturey; son, Anthony, married to the former Patrice Starszak, Greenville, SC; daughters, Mary Ann, wife of Terry Sanders, Jacksonville, FL and Debra Ann, St. Pete Beach, FL; grandsons, Parker and Zachary Sanders; granddaughter, Jenna Marie Sturey; brother, John, married to the former Mary Agnes Urso, VA; sister-in-law, Nancy Schultz, Morrellville and numerous nieces and nephews. Theresa was a 1950 graduate of the former Johnstown Catholic High School. She was employed in the Conemaugh Valley School District as a teacher's aide, and in the Dietary Department at Lee Hospital. Theresa was a member and Choir member of Ss. Gregory and Barnabas Catholic Church, Daisytown. She enjoyed swimming at the YWCA, traveling, and reading. Theresa loved walking on the beach when visiting family, but especially loved the Christmas Season and having her entire family at her side. At Theresa’s request there will be no public viewing. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Ss. Gregory and Barnabas Catholic Church, Daisytown, Fr. Robert Ruston, Pastor. Inurnment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family is being served by the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, Conemaugh. Theresa’s family suggests contributions be directed to Gene Schultz Scholarship Fund, C/o Bishop McCort High School, 25 Osborne Street, Johnstown, PA 15905 in memory of Theresa.
