Sue Hrivnak

Hrivnak - Sue, 96, Valparaiso, IN, formerly of Johnstown, PA and Bonita Springs, FL, went to be with the Lord on October 31, 2017 at the home of her son, Bruce. She was born on May 1, 1921 in Czechoslovakia, daughter of John and Suzanna (Strigner) Pasternak. Preceded in death by her parents and husband, John Hrivnak. She is survived by her loving sons, Bruce J. (Lucy Lawyer) Hrivnak, Valparaiso, IN, and Gary A. (Linda Robbins) Hrivnak, Memphis, TN; grandchildren, Ann (Adrian) Pumphrey, Indianapolis, IN, John (Jessica Wallace) Hrivnak, Washington, DC, Stephen (Paige Endsley) Hrivnak, New York, NY, Leslie (James) Day, Aviano, Italy, and Jennifer (Kent) Austell, Memphis, TN; great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Ryan, William, and Isaac Day all of Aviano, Italy, Samuel, Sebastian, and Susanna Pumphrey, all of Indianapolis, IN, and Kennedy Joy, Brooklyn, and Savannah Austell, all of Memphis, TN. She was the sister of Mary Chobany, Portage, PA and Mildred (Mike) Sedlak, Geistown Borough, and aunt to many beloved nieces and nephews and their families. Sue came to the United States in 1929 and grew up in Johnstown, PA. She graduated from Johnstown High School and Cambria Rowe Business College. Sue worked for many years as a secretary. She trusted in Christ for her salvation and was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Johnstown. Sue was actively involved with Christian Women’s Club since the formation of the Johnstown Club and continued to participate when she and her late husband moved to Florida. She dedicated her life to Jesus Christ and desired that others she met would come to know the forgiveness of sins and the joy and peace that comes through faith in Him. Friends will be received from 3-7 P.M. on Friday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland and from 10 A.M. until time of service at 11 A.M. on Saturday at Emmanuel Baptist Church, with Pastor David Streets officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery.
