Sracic, Stephen T. Sr., 94, of Johnstown, Pa, passed away on April 9, 2019, in Greentown, Pa. Stephen was born on May 22, 1924, in St. Michael, son of the late Kazimir and Mary (Mihacevich) Sracic. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Helen (Fabac); brothers, John, Matthew and Zvonimere; and sisters, Rose Lazorisak and Mary Perich. He is survived by his children, Stephen, Jr. (Judy), Abbottstown, PA; Michael (Kathleen), Houston, TX; and Lillian Coombs (Jim), Greentown, PA; brother, Albert, Langhorne, PA; and by his many beloved nieces and nephews. Stephen was a kind and loving grandfather to eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. As a veteran of WWII, in the European theater, Master Sergeant Stephen T. Sracic, Sr. served with the Third Army, Company A, 2nd Platoon. He also served with the 3rd Armored Spearhead Division, nicknamed “The Third Herd”. He supported the divisions engaged in the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded The Purple Heart. Stephen’s Korean War Service had him stationed in Germany with the 628th Tank Battalion. Post Korea, he served in the National Guard’s 103rd Armor Regiment in Johnstown, PA. Stephen was a member of St. Joseph’s and St. John Gualbert Catholic Churches, where he served as an Extraordinary Minister and was a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree. At Stephen’s request, there will be no viewing. In lieu of flowers, please donate in Stephen’s name to the Wounded Warrior Project or to the Gary Sinise Foundation. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on May 3, 2019, at St. John Gualbert Cathedral in Johnstown, PA. Stephen will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum in Geistown with military rites. Family is being served by Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland.
