Loya, Stephen J., 94, of Plano TX, formerly of East Taylor Township, went to be with the Lord on July 4, 2012 at Seasons Hospice, Denton, TX. He was born on April 14, 1918 in Johnstown. Son of John Loya Sr. and Barbara Loya. Preceded in death by parents; wife, Anne M. (Kopenits) Loya; siblings, Mike, John Jr., George, Andrew and a sister, Mary. Also daughter in law, Daria L. Loya.
He is survived by his loving children, Kenneth S. Loya, Cranberry Township. Pittsburgh; daughter, Annette M., wife of Paul E. Conrad, Plano, TX; grandchildren, Stephen and David Loya and Robert Conrad, Jessica Williams and Brent Conrad and 6 great grandchildren. Also several nieces and nephews.
Stephen was a graduate of Conemaugh High School. He was a US Navy Veteran serving during WW II. He served as an Aviation Radioman & Gunner 3rd Class with Scouting Squadron 66 in the South Pacific. Stephen retired from the US Post Office after 40 years of service as a mail carrier. He was a member of the Church of the Transfiguration and the National Association of Letter Carriers. Stephen enjoyed photography, learning computers and working around the house. Stephen loved his family and will be remembered as a kind and gentle person.
Friends will be received from 9-11 A.M. on Monday at the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, 229-231 First Street, Conemaugh, PA. Funeral Mass will be at 11:30 A.M. on Monday at the Church of the Transfiguration, Rev. Father Robert C. Hall. Committal will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery with military rites conducted by Menoher Post #155 VFW Ritual Team. The family suggests contributions be directed to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O.
