Sophie McCloskey

McCLOSKEY – Sophie (Smith), 96, Richland Township, formerly of Beaverdale, went peacefully to be with the Lord June 30, 2015, at LaurelWood Care Center. Born May 28, 1919, in Nanty Glo, daughter of Stanley and Bernice (Brochleda) Smith. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank J. McCloskey Sr.; son, John; daughters, Mary Ann Cehelnik and Rose M. Rachael; son-in-law, Frank Cehelnik; sisters, Bernice L. McCloskey, Helen White, Nellie Bartko and Josephine Dempsey; and brothers, Stanley, Joseph and John Smith. Survived by her loving son, Frank J. McCloskey, and special friend, Shelly A. Steen, both of Salix; daughter-in-law, Bernadine McCloskey, Euclid, Ohio; grandchildren, Debbie, wife of Bill Abrams; and Brian and Mark McCloskey, all of Euclid, Ohio; Frank Cehelnik, Cleveland, Ohio; James Rachael, married to Tracy, Clearwater, Fla.; Christopher Rachael, married to Sherri, Savannah, Ga.; Amy (Rachael) Freeman, wife of Brian, Clearwater Fla.; and Sarah (McCloskey) Gojkovich, Sierra Vista, Ariz.; great-grandchildren, Christina McCloskey, Stephanie (Cehelnik) Unkrich, Stacey Cehelnik, Billy and Johnny Abrams and Lyla and Riley Freeman; three great-great-grandchildren; son-in-law, James Rachael, Dunlo, PA and numerous nieces and nephews. Sophie retired from the former Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital, where she was employed in environmental services. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, St. Michael. Sophie loved spending time with family, polka dancing and summer picnics with friends.  Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where vigil for the deceased will be held at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael Catholic Church, Father Charles F.
