Shirley C. Peterson

Peterson, Shirley C., 82, of Richland. Went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Aug. 7, 2011, at Memorial Medical Center. Born January 6, 1929 in Johnstown.  Daughter of the late Sylvester and Ethel (Lord) Driscoll.  Also preceded in death by husband, Edwin G. Peterson; son Timothy G. Peterson; infant daughter, Darla Marie Peterson, brother, David Driscoll, and sister, Mary Bazin, MI.  Survived by these children:  David M., married to Elaine (Beegle) Peterson, Johnstown; Daniel P., married to Linda Joyce (Strayer) Peterson, Locust Grove, Virginia; Rebecca P., wife of Terry T. Yoshizumi, Hillsborough, NC; Holly J. LaVigne, Johnstown, Diane M. wife of Jerry Peterson, Johnstown; Lisa A., wife of Scott Evans, Fredericksburg, VA; also 16 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, half-sister of John Diamond, VA.  Shirley was a 1947 graduate of Johnstown Catholic High School.  She was a member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, Geistown, Red Hats of Richland, Christian Writers Guild and Richland Senior Activity Center.  Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, who enjoyed visiting her grandchildren, writing poetry, reading, painting, line dancing and playing bingo. Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 pm Tuesday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where Vigil Service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 am Wednesday at St. Benedict’s Church, Fr. David S. Peles, Pastor. Committal at St. John’s Cemetery, Geistown.
