Killian – Shirley A. 90, Bon Air, went to be with the Lord on February 25, 2025. Born on August 25, 1934 in Johnstown, daughter of Edwin D. and Clara J. (Chirdon) Eckenrode. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Frank M. Killian; daughter, Diane Killian; siblings, Mary Burkett, Edwin Eckenrode, Betty Mardis, Charlotte Brandon, and Cathrine Carlisle; sister-in-law, Francie Zelek; son-in-law, Andy Castiglione, and nephew, Michael Zelek.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Debbie Castiglione, Cover Hill, Lynn (Rick) Brezensky, Johnstown, and Sharon (Joe) Callihan, Richland; grandchildren, Nathan, Chrissy, Amy, Aaron, Ashley, and Brianne; great grandchildren, Rockford, Madison, Andrew, and Zoey, and several nephews and nieces, including special nieces, Debbie Vivis, Johnstown, and Lisa (Tom) Walters and their son, Nicholas, all of Erie.
Shirley retired from Cambria County Head Start with over 30 years of service as a bus driver. She was a former member of SS. Gregory and Barnabas Parish, Bon Air, where she sang in the choir. Shirley always had candy bars in the drawer of her refrigerator for everyone, played polkas on Sunday mornings after church, and who could ever forget her pigs in the blanket.
At Shirley’s request there will be no public viewing or service. The family is being served by the Baker Funeral Chapel and Cremation Services, 229-231 First Street, Conemaugh. Private interment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family suggests contributions be directed to AseraCare Hospice, 1015 Logan Blvd, Altoona PA 16602 in memory of Shirley.
