Shirley M. Boerstler

Boerstler – Shirley M., 92, Richland Township, went to be with the Lord on November 26, 2024. Born on May 7, 1932 in Johnstown, daughter of Marcus N. and May (Jones) Trautman. Preceded in death by her parents; sister, Ivy “Carol” Crist, and brothers-in-law, Alex Zubatiuk, and Fred Crist. 

 She is survived by her loving children, Eric E. (Linda) Boerstler, Pittsburgh, and Debra L. (Kevin) Nichols, Ft. Worth, TX; grandchildren, Cara Goodman, Lakyn Dixon, Cheryl Clark, Hannah Seymour, Christian Nichols, and Aurora Boerstler; sister, Alice “Joanne” Zubatiuk, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Shirley was a 1950 graduate of Westmont High School. She was employed at PENELEC for several years and later retired from the United Cerebral Palsy Association as a secretary. Shirley was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Johnstown, where she was in the choir and taught Sunday School for many years. She was an avid reader and enjoyed bowling in a league at Richland Lanes. Shirley loved to eat, but especially loved her grandchildren.

 Friends will be received from 9 a.m. until time of Memorial Service at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 12th, at Zion Lutheran Church, 613 Locust Street, Johnstown, PA 15901, with the Rev. Michael Van Dyke officiating. Private inurnment will be at Richland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church, 613 Locust Street, Johnstown, PA 15901 in memory of Shirley.
