Shirley M. Aveni

AVENI—Shirley M., 91, Richland, passed away peacefully at home on January 14, 2025. Born February 15, 1933, in Johnstown, daughter of Ralph and Grace Nesmith. Preceded in death by parents; husband Anthony “Nino” Aveni; sister Lois Nesmith; brother, Jack and sister-in-law, June. Survived by sons, Anthony “Tony” Aveni, Richland; Mark Aveni, Westmont; and John Aveni, Las Vegas, NV; and Special grandson, Sean Aveni. Sister of James Nesmith and wife, Sally, Johnstown; also survived by nieces, Rosemary, Jeannette, Christine and Wendy; nephews, Fr. Frank and Scott. Shirley was retired after over 30 years of service for First Commonwealth Bank. She loved to bake cookies at the holidays and she and her husband loved travelling especially to the casinos. Shirley had a very special place in her heart for her grandson, Sean whom she loved very much. She was most happy when she was able to talk to Sean on the telephone. A special thank you to Rosemary Turner for everything she has done for her aunt and especially the last week of Shirley’s life. Tony said he could not have done it without Rosemary’s help. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until time of Funeral Service at 4 p.m. Sunday, January 19, 2025 at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland with Fr.
