It is very difficult to separate the memories of Sheldon without mentioning his first true love, Sarah Jeanette. Sheldon loved fresh air, watching a wood fire, sleeping under the stars and spent countless hours on his front porch where loved ones could gather and talk, discuss various topics, and be set straight when needed. He had a loving heart and was very resourceful. His ability to restore anotherâs trash into an eventual family heirloom which always contained a significant story was a hallmark of the modest, but proud lifestyle. Even when life became difficult, few if any complaints were expressed. He taught his family that worth did not come from possessions, but through hard work, care, compassion and love. Sheldon had a lifelong passion for family genealogy and stamp collecting, was involved in Boy Scouts for 20 years and was in the Order of the Arrow. We know you have found the peace and contentment you were looking for.âWe will miss you Papâ. He would say when he hung up the phone, âBye for Nowâ. Friends received from noon until time of service at 2 P.M. on Monday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland with the Rev. Thomas Moore, officiating. Interment will be at Richland Cemetery with military rites. Memorial contributions may be directed to Windber Hospice or Hospital.(Online condolences may be posted at www.wharrisfuneralhome)
