Santa – Sara R., 95, East Conemaugh, went to be with the Lord on February 7, 2019 at the Lutheran Home at Johnstown. Born on December 19, 1923 in Echo, PA, daughter of Charles A. and Anna E. (Miller) Goss. Preceded in death by her parents; 1st husband, Blain L. George; 2nd husband, Francis “Bull” W. Santa; daughter, Judy Mardis; son, Blain “Bucky” L. George; grandchildren, Joyce Charlene Mardis and Sherry Lynn George; great granddaughter, Amber D. Mardis; siblings, Charles, John, Bob, Patsy, Kathleen Upholzer, and Belle Makin. She is survived by her loving daughters, Beatrice Joyce Santa and Janice Charlene Santa-Palso both of East Conemaugh; grandchildren, William, Marilee, John, and James Mardis, Lori, Daria, Christine, and Becky George; great grandchildren, TJ, Thomas, Evan, Greg, Amber, Justin, and Blain; 7 great-great grandchildren; son-in-law, Ronald Mardis, Mundys Corner; several nieces, nephews, and many friends, including special friends, Doreen Cooper and Darlene Lovas. Sara was a 1942 graduate of East Conemaugh High School. She was a member the First Presbyterian Church, East Conemaugh, where she taught Bible School for several years. Sara was also a Girl Scout Leader and a member of the of the South Fork American Legion Unit #653; former member of the Conemaugh-Franklin American Legion Unit #633; Cambria County Council; Past Presidents Parley, and 8 et 40 where she held many offices. She enjoyed crocheting and many road trips to old cemeteries in the central PA with her late husband, Francis. Sara loved special get togethers with her family and friends as well as playing BINGO. Her family would like to thank the nursing staff at Allegheny Lutheran Home and Interim Hospice and Palliative Care staff. At Sara’s request there will be no public viewing. Family and friends are invited to attend a grave side service at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Chapel, with the Rev. Maurice Williams officiating. The family is being served by the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, Conemaugh. Family suggests contributions be directed to the Humane Society of Cambria County, 743 Galleria Drive Extension, Johnstown, PA 15904 in memory of Sara.
