Gindlesperger – Sanford Ray “Sam,” 91, of Davidsville, passed away on May 4, 2024 at home. Born February 16, 1933 to the late Robert and Lizzie (Sala) Gindlesperger. He is also preceded in death by brothers, Earl and Donald Gindlesperger, sister Alice Vallies , along with several nieces and nephews. Sam is survived by his wife, Jean (Fochtman) Gindlesperger, son, Marvin, married to Debra (Simon), daughter, Lou Ann Reckner, and daughter Deborah married to Tom Harris. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Nikki (Mike) Simpson, Steve (Autumn) Gindlesperger, Justin (Vicki) Gindlesperger, Kimberly Reckner, and Robert (Brianne) Reckner, and ten great grandchildren. Sam was a graduate of Conemaugh Township High School in 1950. He was a life member of St David’s Lutheran Church. Sam was a retired truck driver from Crane Company, Pepsi Cola Bottling, and Ryder Truck Lines. Sanford’s love was camping. They started out with the Flood City Campers and had thirty five years with the Jayco Wise Owl Campers. After making a lot of great friends, and many trips traveling to all 50 states, they finally sold his “rig” at the age of eighty eight. 2022 found them selling their home which they built in 1959 and moved to Laurel View Village, where they were enjoying the next phase of their life. He will be sorely missed by his wife of 72 years, Jean, along with his children and family. Friends received 3-7 pm Thursday May 9 at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland and from 10 am to 11 am time of service Friday May 10 at St. David’s Lutheran Church. Pastor Mark Fischer and Rev. Nathan Pile, officiating. Interment at Kaufman Cemetery. Family suggests donations to the following: St David’s Lutheran Church, Windber Hospice, and St Jude’s Children Hospital. Online condolences may be posted to (www.wharrisfuneralhome.com)
