Sandra L. Balog

Balog - Sandra L. “Sandy” (Plish), 67, East Taylor Township, passed away unexpectedly January 10, 2015. Born December 8, 1947 in Johnstown. Daughter of John and Genevieve (Janiczek) Plish. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Steven Balog and brothers William and Thomas Plish. Survived by her sons, Steven, married to the former Terry Lanzendorfer, Ashville, PA and James, married to the former Heather Marshall, Altoona; grandsons, Owen and Jonah; sister, Joanne Plish, East Taylor Township; brothers, Robert (Marie) Plish, Jackson Township and John (Claudette) Plish, Nanty Glo; uncle, Stanley Janiczek, East Taylor Township; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Sandy was a graduate of East Conemaugh High School, Class of 1965. She was a member of St. John Gaulbert Cathedral. Sandy enjoyed baking, cooking and gardening. She loved spending time with her entire family, especially her grandsons. Family will receive friends from 3-7 p.m. on Wednesday at Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, 229-231 First Street, Conemaugh, where the vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at St John Gaulbert Cathedral, Very Rev. James F. Crookston, Pastor. Committal will be at Assumption Cemetery. The family suggests contributions be directed to St John Gaulbert Cathedral Building Fund or Audio Upgrade Fund, 117 Clinton Street, P.O. Box 807, Johnstown, PA 15907 in memory of Sandra.
