Ryan Thomas Fleming

d. January 26, 2014

Fleming, Ryan Thomas, 20, of Richland Township, died in his sleep from a cardiac condition and awoke with his Savior on January 26, 2014 in Pittsburgh. Born on January 17, 1994 in Johnstown. Beloved son of Thomas P. Fleming Jr. and Linda Rovder Fleming, and brother of Tyler Fleming, all of Richland Township. In addition to his parents and brother, Ryan is survived by his grandparents, Thomas Sr. and Lois Fleming and Francis and Joanne Rovder, all of Johnstown; aunts and uncles, Jeff and Janice (Fleming) Layton, Johnstown, Denise Fleming, Indiana, PA, Thomas and Karen (Rovder) Koenig, Sewickley, PA, and Jerry and Paula (Rovder) Schmitt, Cranberry Township, PA; cousins, Sarah Layton, Justin Koenig, and Matthew Schmitt; and several great aunts and uncles. Ryan also leaves behind many special friends from both the Richland School District and Duquesne University. Ryan was a 2012 graduate of Richland High School, where he lettered in football and basketball and was a member of the National Honor Society and the Mock Trial Team. Ryan was a sophomore at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, where he studied accounting in the A.J. Palumbo School of Business Administration and the University Honors College. He maintained a 4.0 Grade Point Average and an academic scholarship. He proudly served as Assistant to the Director of Football Operations for the Duquesne Dukes and his Uncle Jerry, Head Football Coach. Ryan played intramural football, basketball, and volleyball, and was a member of the Duquesne Red and Blue Crew. Ryan aspired to obtain his CPA license and to become an attorney. Ryan had an amazing work ethic, both in academics and athletics. Like his brother, he maintained a strong moral compass based on his faith in God. Ryan always did the right thing. His dry sense of humor and sharp wit made his friends and family laugh often. Ryan enjoyed attending sporting events with his father and friends, playing fantasy football, following the Miami Dolphins, and collecting coins. Ryan was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church, where he was an Alter Server and Eucharistic Minister. Friends will be received from 4-8 P.M. on Thursday and 2-8 P.M. on Friday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where Vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday at St. Clement Catholic Church, Fr. William E. Rosenbaum. Committal will be held at Richland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies for a scholarship in Ryan's name. On line condolences may be posted to www.wharrisfuneralhome.com.
