Ruth H. Legdon

Legdon – Ruth, 89, Richland Township, passed away on May 3, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center. Born on November 26, 1924 in Hastings, PA, daughter of George B. and Helen (Forberger) Chigas. Preceded in death by her parents and husband, Bill Legdon. She is survived by her loving children, Roberta Legdon, Frederick, MD and William R. Legdon, Richland Township; granddaughter, Jacqueline Piro, Middletown, MD; great grandson, Max Piro-Larose; brother, Thomas Chigas, Fayetteville, PA and several nieces and nephews. Ruth was a graduate of Hastings High School and later graduated from Spangler Hospital School of Nursing. She was employed as a Registered Nurse and retired from Arbutus Park Manor as a Nurse Supervisor. Ruth was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Geistown. She enjoyed playing pinochle, word puzzles and her cats. Friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. on Monday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where Vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Fr. David S. Peles, Pastor. Entombment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum.
