Burkhart, Ruth E., 78, of Windber. Died July 9, 2019, at Windber Woods. Born Aug. 3, 1940, in Harrisburg, PA. Ruth was raised by the late Max and Elverda Knouse. Also preceded in death by brother, Jimmy Knouse; son, Michael Denney; and daughter, Diane Keiter-Smay. Survived by husband, James J. Burkhart; son, David Keiter, Carlisle, PA; and daughter, Maxine Cook, Gulfport, MS; grandchildren; Zachary, Cody and Amanda Smay, and son -in-law, Curtis Smay, Stafford, VA; also, grandchildren, Ricky Warner, Alonda; and 9 great grandchildren; also sister in law of Jerry and Jackie Burkhart, Richland,  Susan and Joe Myers, Fishertown, and brother in law, Dick Fye, Salix. Retired Hostess from Richland Eat n’ Park Restaurant. No public visitation or viewing at Ruth’s request. Private services with Pastor Joe Brown, officiating and inurnment at Berkey Cemetery.
