Russell Strait

Strait, Russell, 90, of Richland. Died June 12, 2015, at Windber Hospice. Born Nov. 2, 1924, in Saluvia, Fulton County, PA. Son of the late Robert and Susie C. (Moore) Strait. Also preceded in death by wife of 54 years, Naomi (Parsons). Survived by son, Philip, married to the former Susan J. (Bahorik); grandchildren, Wendy (Eric) Griffin, Matthew (Brenda Rambish), and Jody (Todd) Berkey. Great grandchildren; Taylor, Ali, Josie, Morgan, Mackenzie, Ashley, Alex and Rylee. Brother of Delores Crouse-Saylor, wife of Bob Saylor, Kermit “Jack” (Sarah Kelly) Strait. Also nieces and nephews and special friend, Sandra Coder. Marine Corps Veteran of WWII. Retired bricklayer with Local #9, Bricklayers Union. Russ was an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer and joke teller. Attended Emmanuel Baptist Church. Friends received from 3 PM to 8 PM Monday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where service and committal will be held at 6 PM. Rev. Ray Streets, Jr., officiating. Military rites after service by Conemaugh Valley Detachment of the Marine Corps League. Private interment at Richland Cemetery. Family suggests donations to Windber Hospice in memory of Russ.
