Plesnick, Rudolph, âRudyâ, 89, of Geistown Borough, went to be with the Lord on October 13, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center. Born on February 6, 1924 in Twin Rocks, PA. Son of George and Frances (Maticic) Plesnick. Preceded in death by his parents and sister, Pauline Boyar. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Gillette M. (Defrance) Plesnick, Geistown Borough; children, Lucine C., wife of Frank Lesosky, Richland Township, Lynn H., married to the former Kathy J. Eckley, Central City, PA, Lyle R., married to the former Joanne M. Badaczewski, Media, PA; grandchildren, Dr. Christine M., wife of Philip E. Rohanna, Geistown Borough, Nicole A., wife of Michael W. Stevens, Mt. Joy, PA, Eric P. Lesosky, Richland Township, and Shawn L. Plesnick, Media, PA; great grandson, Mason Tyler Stevens. Rudy was a 1942 graduate of Johnstown High School. He served with the US Army in WW II as Wire Chief in the 3113th Signal Corps in Liege Belgium, where he met and married his lovely bride, Gillette. Rudy attended the University of Illinois at Champaign, Il for Electrical Engineering. He retired after 40 years as owner and operator of the former Stonycreek Hotel and Bar, Johnstown. Rudy was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church; 3rd Degree in the Knights of Columbus; Menoher Post #155 V.F.W.; SNPJ Lodge #749 and life member of the Ferndale Volunteer Fire Company. He enjoyed family, hunting, boating, fishing, biking, being in the outdoors and was an avid sports fan, especially the Pirates and the Penguins. Rudy will be remembered for his ability to fix anything, but family always came first. He loved his entire family dearly, especially his grandchildren. Rudyâs family would like to thank the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at Memorial Medical Center and all the care givers who assisted Rudy. Friends will be received from 5-7 P.M. on Wednesday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where Vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be at 10 A.M. on Thursday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Fr. David S. Peles, Pastor. Entombment will be at Richland Cemetery Mausoleum with military rites conducted by Menoher Post #155 VFW Ritual Team. The family suggests contributions be directed to St. Benedict Catholic Church, 2310 Bedford Street, Johnstown, PA 15904 in memory of Rudy.
