Kring Roy I., 88, of Richland Township, went to be with the Lord on October 10, 2013 at Richland Woods Assisted Living. Preceded in death by his parents Palmer and Almeda (Wingard) Kring and brother, Percy. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Ruth J. (Mason) Kring, Richland Township; sons, Roy M., married to the former Shirley Hilsgen, Bedford, MA, Richard O., married to the former Jeannine Andree, Charlotte, NC and Rollin P., married to the former Beth Govek, Menomonee Falls, WI; grandchildren, Shaun (Erica), Oak Creek, WI, Justin (Heather), Kenosha, WI, Katie, Menomonee Falls, WI, Allyson, NYC, NY, Randy, Portland, ME, and Ryan, Cambridge, MA; great granddaughter, Ella Kring, Oak Creek, WI; sister, Ruby, wife of Walter Montag, Richland Township/ Port Charlotte, FL; brother, Marvin, married to the former Nancy Goughnour, Bedford, PA and several nieces and nephews. Roy was a US Navy Veteran serving on the USS Bennington Aircraft Carrier during WW II in the Pacific Theatre. He retired from Amtrak after 38 years of service as a clerk. Roy was a member of the Bethany United Methodist Church, where he and Ruth attended for many years. Roy was also Past Worshipful Master of the Greater Johnstown Lodge #538 F&AM. He and Ruth enjoyed square dancing, camping, their dog Brandy, and visiting and going on trips with their children and grandchildren. Roy more than anything loved his family and his Lord. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. on Friday and from 10 A.M. until time of service at 11 A.M. on Saturday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, with the Rev. Pat Cleary officiating. A Masonic service will be held at 7 P.M. on Friday at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Richland Cemetery Mausoleum with military rites conducted by Menoher Post #155 VFW Ritual Team. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be directed to Bethany United Methodist Church, 112 Leventry Road, Johnstown, PA 15904 in memory of Roy.
