Rose Marie Rachael

October 10, 1947 — December 5, 2011

Rose Marie Rachael, 64, of Llanfair, PA passed away peacefully on December 5, 2011 surrounded by her loving family at her daughter’s home in Florida. She was one of four children born to Sophie (Smith) McCloskey, Beaverdale, PA and the late Frank McCloskey on October 10, 1947 in Beaverdale, PA. On September 7, 1968 she married James Rachael, who survives. Rose graduated from Triangle Area High School in 1965 and Conemaugh Valley School of Nursing in 1968. Her compassion for helping others was reflected in her 42 year career at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center where she most recently retired as Nurse Manager of the G.I. Lab. Her adventurous, independent spirit and love of travel led her to many exciting destinations around the world. Rose had a passion for music which she expressed by singing for her church, St Michael’s Catholic Church, St. Michael, PA and Jubilate Deo Sacred Choir of Altoona. She was loved by many and enjoyed countless treasured friendships throughout the years. Most importantly, Rose loved spending time with her family and was deeply cherished by her grandchildren. In addition to her mother she is survived by her daughter, Amy (Rachael) Freeman and her husband Brian, granddaughter, Lyla all of Tampa, FL; son, James Rachael Jr. and wife Theresa (Burns), Clearwater Beach, Fl; son, Christopher Rachael and wife Sherri (Ronan); grandchildren Savannah and Aidan all of Savannah, GA; brother, Frank McCloskey of Salix, PA and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her father she is preceded in death by her sister Maryann Cehelnik and brother, John McCloskey. Friends received from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. on Thursday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Johnstown, PA where vigil for the deceased will be held in the evening. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 751 Locust Street, St. Michael, PA. Committal will be at Grandview Cemetery Mausoleum. The family suggests contributions be directed to the American Cancer Society, Central Region, Cambria Unit, 350 Budfield Street, Johnstown, PA 15904 in memory of Rose.
