Rose Marie Martella

Martella, Rose Marie, 84, of Richland. Died July 31, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center.  Born December 25, l928 in Windber. Daughter of the late Stephen and Julia (Watyka) Metz. Also preceded in death by sisters, Dorothy Bell and Cathy Clement. Survived by husband of 55 years, John C. Martella; children,  John III, married to Debra (Beck); Joseph R., Michael S. and special friend, Steph, and Maria, wife of Pete Gerula. Grandchildren; Matthew, Caitlin, Nicole, Natalie, Cole and Lauren. 1946 graduate of Windber High School. Formerly employed at General Telephone in Windber and later for Valley Oral Surgeons. Member of Visitation BVM Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America, BPOE Bowling League and Auxiliary. She was affectionately known as " St. Rose” by her family and friends. Rose Marie greatly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and many friends she acquired at the “Alibi”. Friends received from 2-8 PM Friday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where wake service will be held. Funeral Mass at 10 AM Saturday at Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Fr. Barry J. Baroni, Pastor. Fr. William E. Rosenbaum, Celebrant. Committal at Grandview Cemetery. Family suggests donations to Palliative Care Unit at Memorial Medical Center, 1086 Franklin St. Johnstown, PA 15905 in memory of Rose Marie Martella.
