Klinar, Rose J., 99, of Johnstown, went to be with the Lord on September 8, 2016 at Arbutus Park Manor. Born on July 12, 1917 in Bon Air. Daughter of the late John and Jennie (Marolt) Milavec. Preceded in death by husband of 50 years, Henry J. Klinar, brothers, John, Frank, Andy, Ed, Laddie, Bill, Steve; sisters, Jennie, Julie, Mary and Elsie. She is survived by her loving children, Henry B. Klinar married to Janet (Prozialeck) of Venetia, PA, Kathleen Douris of Brooklyn, NY, and John M. Klinar married to Karey (Bacha) of Johnstown; grandchildren; Henry W., Jillian, Ashley, Lena, Maura, Rose (born on Rose J.’s birthday), Heather, and John E.; great-grandchildren, Avana, Dane, Dasan, Amelia, Henry M., Alina, and Bryson; and loved by all her nieces and nephews. Rose was the first in her family to graduate from high school, she graduated from Franklin High School in 1935. She helped manage milk and vegetable sales along with her sisters, selling goods in Bon Air and Franklin. She especially enjoyed fresh spring water from the Hildebrand’s well in Bon Air. Rose’s family pulled together in her youth after the passing of her father at an early age. She worked for the U.S. Selective Service Draft Board in Johnstown during World War II. Afterwards, she worked for Penelec in the payroll department. Rose was a member of Saint Benedict Catholic Church in Geistown for over 60 years. She was an 80-year member of the SNPJ Lodge 254 Bon Air, which her 80-year membership was celebrated with a dinner at the Homestead Inn in 2015. Rose was also a member of the S.O.A.R. organization. She was a lifetime member of the Richland American Legion Post #849, Ladies Auxiliary. She was den mother with Cub Scouts for children and neighbors. She was active with Highland Booster Baseball, giving support with concessions, fundraising, and player support. Rose was an active supporter of all family activities, attending events regularly until recent years. She was an active follower of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers, and Penguins. Rose was an avid gardener, canner, cook, and baker. She made the best apple strudel and homemade bread ever. Rose has experienced a rich, full life. She will be sorely missed by all family and friends.Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. on Sunday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Monday at Saint Benedict Catholic Church with the Rev. David S. Peles, officiating. Committal will be at Grandview Cemetery.
