Bonk – Rose M., “Pete”, 91, Johnstown, went to be with the Lord on November 6, 2022. Born on April 19, 1931 in Johnstown, daughter of Lawrence L. and Margaret (Phillips) Lear. Preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Courtney Rose Bonk; infant brothers, Raymond and Donald Lear; siblings, Evelyn Rager, Larry and William Lear, and Phyllis Vranich; sons-in-law, Kenneth Sobecky and Ron Altemus; daughters-in-law, Gloria Bonk and Jodi Dick, and nephews, Greg Lear, Ron and Dan Michalek, Dave Bonk, Raymond and “Spike” Rager, and Alex Litko.
She is survived by her loving husband of 75 years, Edward V. Bonk; children, Edward, Diana Sobecky, Roxanne Altemus, Anthony, Michael, Mark, and Kathleen (Jack) Bonk; granddaughters, Anastasia (Stephen) Timko, Krystin (Drew) Bonk, and Jennifer Altemus; great grandsons, Tristin and Brendan Timko; sisters-in-law, Connie Bonk and Jean Bonk; brother-in-law, Robert Bonk, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rose was a member of the Church of the Transfiguration. She enjoyed playing Bingo, pinochle, skibo, and fishing. Rose loved spending time with her family, especially for birthdays and holidays, and will be remembered for giving the best hugs.
Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. on Thursday at the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, 229-231 First Street, Conemaugh, where Vigil Service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the Church of the Transfiguration, Fr. Robert C. Hall, Pastor. Committal will be at Assumption Cemetery.
