GORDON---Rosalie (Porcher), 89, East Conemaugh, went home to be with the Lord on October 24, 2018. She was born March 29, 1929, to father, Julius C. Sr. and mother, Laura (Brown) Porcher. She married John Thomas “Sonny Boy” Gordon on June 14, 1949. Rosalie graduated from Franklin High School and finished her professional career at Conemaugh Memorial Hospital, after which she became a devoted house wife. Family members who preceded Rosalie in death include her parents; husband of 59 years, sister, Pearl (Jackson) Porcher; brother, James “Jim” Porcher, grandson, Christopher Darnell Moore; and granddaughter, Darnell Christine (Gordon-Simmons) Edwards. She is survived by daughters, Arleen Christine Gordon-Moore, Chicago, and Linda Darnell Gordon, East Conemaugh, grandson, Loren P. Moore and granddaughter, Niki L. Gordon; great-grandchildren, Marlena Moore, Christopher J. Moore, Kiana Simmons, Charles Simmons and Julian Thomas Dunlap; brother, Rev. Julius Porcher Jr. and sister, Verna Porcher-Carter; brother-in-law, Harry “Buster” Gordon and sisters-in-law, Ellen Simpson and Arnada Bailey. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Rosalie, along side her husband, opened Sonny’s Grocery Store in Conemaugh and was also part owner of the B&J Club. She was a devoted member of the Mt. Sinai Institutional Baptist Church. In her early years, she was an active member of the church choir and kitchen club. She was also a member of Senior Life of Johnstown until her death. Family and friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, November 2, 2018, Mt. Sinai Institutional Baptist Church, 351 2nd Street, Conemaugh, where her homegoing service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 3, 2018, with Pastor Maurice Williams, officiating.
