Miller - Rodney Kent, 77, Johnstown, died suddenly on October 26, 2016 at Conemaugh Medical Center. Born on April 13, 1939 in Johnstown, PA, son of Robert and Ethel (Gardner) Miller. Preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Maryann (Stevens) Miller. Survived by his wife of 43 years, Hildegarde (Kmetz) Miller, Johnstown; sons, John K. (Donna) Miller, Narvon, PA, Eric J. (LeAnn Monteiro) Miller, Marengo, OH, Alan C. (Terri Casto) Miller, Pataskala, OH, Jeffrey (Kim Foltin) Miller, Boonsboro, MD; daughters, Brenda L. (Bob) Welch, Johnstown, Lisa A. (Joe) Szczur, Johnstown, and Kristina L. and fiancé, Victor Santangelo, South Fork; siblings, Sidney V. (Joy) Miller, Davidsville, Rhea Mozi, Richland Township, and Heidi Richard, Johnstown; grandchildren, Carey Weber;  Ian and Daniel Miller; Misty Meekins and husband, Allen Wilterdink, Savanna Meekins and husband, Chris Kurts, Joshua and Bryan Szczur, and Katelyn Szczur, and fiancé Daniel Gray, Erika Miller, Ryan and wife, Shannon Miller, Alisan and husband Zach Sammons, Kasey and Ethan Miller, Sara, Olivia, and friend Jared Baker, and Wyatt Faiad, Alexis Miller, and fiancé, Anass Raji,  and Lauren and husband Galen McGrane; great-grandchildren, Gabe, Diana, and Camille; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. Rod was a 1957 graduate of Johnstown High School. He later received an Associate’s Degree in Criminology from Mount Aloysius Jr. College. Rod was employed by Royal Plate Glass Co.; Geistown Borough Police Dept.; Cambria Chief County Detective, and head of Cambria County Drug Task Force. He was President of the Board of Directors at Arbutus Park Manor and Recording Secretary for the Fraternal Order of Police, Flood City Lodge #86; and a Meals on Wheels volunteer. Rod was a member of West Hills Community Church. He enjoyed fishing, hiking, kayaking and being in the outdoors. Friends will be received from 2-8 p.m. on Sunday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where F.O.P. Ritual Service will be held at 7 p.m. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Monday at West Hills Community Church, 2301 Sunshine Avenue, Johnstown, PA 15905, with the Rev. David A. Streets officiating. Interment will be at Richland Cemetery. Online condolences may be posted to www.wharrisfuneralhome.com.
