Robert McKool

McKool, Robert, 77, Richland. Passed away Dec. 28, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center. Born July 6, 1937, in Windber. Son of John and Catherine (Chapman) McKool. Preceded in death by his parents; son, William McKool; sister, MaryAnn Luprek; and daughter-in-law, Pamela McKool. Survived by wife of 16 years, Carol McKool; children, Jacqueline, Brevard, NC; Robert, Yorba Linda, CA; Michael and wife Kimberly; Scott and wife Angela; stepson, Steven LaRocca, all of Johnstown; and daughter-in-law Tracy Todorich and husband Doug, Stoystown. Also survived by grandchildren, Robert, Jonathan, William, Danielle Eicher, Lauren, Taylor Grasser and husband Keith, and Halen; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren. Brother of John “Jack” (Marge) McKool and Richard (Judy) McKool all of Johnstown. Brother-in-law of Richard Luprek of Johnstown. Also survived by former wife Joanne McKool of San Diego, CA. He was the owner of Pine Crest and Leisure Village Mobile Home Parks as well as Bloomfield Apartments. He served his country in the United States Air Force where a passion for flying increased. Following in his father’s footsteps, he became a successful entrepreneur and avid pilot.  Nothing gave Bob more pleasure than flying, a hobby he had since 1966. He taught flying for many years, was a flight examiner, and held multi-engine and instrument ratings. Family and friends were also a valuable treasure to him. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids. He spent his free time at his beach houses, the Sandy Too and the Loonie Bin, in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Above all, Bob was an extremely generous man, always giving abundantly to others, over and above himself.  He will be sadly missed by many. Friends received 2-4 and 6-9 PM Tuesday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, and from 10 AM to time of service at 11 AM Wednesday at St. David’s Lutheran Church, Davidsville.
