Knipple - Robert L., "Bob", 79, of Geistown, passed peacefully surrounded by all his family on July 12, 2020. He was born on May 17, 1941 in Johnstown, son of the late George and Ethel (Ressler) Knipple. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his stepmother, Theora (Christner) Knipple; daughter, Susan Pipon; sisters, Jeanne Gall, Edna Mae Robel and brother Brace Lynn Knipple. Survived by loving wife of 60 years, Mary Ann (Miklaucic) Knipple; children, Kevin (Marcia Mock), Ashburn, VA, Karen (Chip) Bender, Geistown, and Melissa (Robert) Washinger, Culpeper, VA; son-in-law, Joseph Pipon, Windber; grandchildren, Jacquelyn, Victoria, Miranda, Joseph Jr., Steven, Michael, and Addison. Also survived by brothers, George, Charles “Chap” (Sally), Warren “Pete” (Barbara), Raymond (Barbara); sister-in-law, Judy (Charlie) Wyandt; numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends. Bob was a US Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War in France, Germany, and the US. He was a trustee at Johnstown American Legion Post #294. Bob was also a member of Saint Benedict Catholic Church, Geistown. He was retired from Bethlehem Steel. Bob enjoyed casino trips with wife and weekly dinners at the Windber Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #349. He also enjoyed tending to his garden, spending time with his grandchildren, and loved his best buddy, Brandi (his cat). Friends will be received from noon until time of service at 4 p.m. on Saturday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, Fr. David S. Peles. Bob’s family asks that all attending his viewing and service, please wear a mask and social distance. Military rites will be conducted by Menoher Post #155 VFW Ritual Team at the funeral home. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Richland Cemetery. His family suggests donations can be made to the Johnstown American Legion Post #294, 114 Main Street, Johnstown, PA 15901 in memory of Bob.
