Robert W. Dawson, Sr.

Dawson Sr., Robert W., 58, of Conemaugh Township, Cambria County, passed away on January 28, 2011, at Select Specialty Hospital. Born on December 14, 1952 in Johnstown. Son of the late R. Kenneth Dawson and Helen C. (Schellhammer) Dawson, Walnut Grove. He is preceded in death by his father; maternal grandparents, Charles and Geraldine (Glass) Schellhammer and paternal grandparents, LeRoy and Bertha (Reed) Dawson. In addition to his mother he is survived by loving wife of 28 years, Dorothy A. (Janiga) Dawson; daughters, Tammy L. wife of David Aurandt, Parkhill, and Ashley M. Dawson, Jackson Township; son, Robert W. Dawson Jr., San Antonio, TX; 6 grandchildren; brother, Richard “Rick” Dawson, East Conemaugh; sisters-in-law, Marilyn K. Janiga, Jackson Township, Barbara A. wife of Anthony Girolami, Johnstown, and Stephanie D. wife of Steve Miles, Johnstown; brothers-in-law, Tom (Maryann) Janiga, MD, Fred Janiga, Johnstown, Pete (Janie) Janiga, Johnstown and several nieces and nephews. Robert was a 1970 graduate of Conemaugh High School. He was a self employed truck driver. Robert was a member of the Johnstown Handicap Association. He enjoyed bowling, hunting and fishing. Robert will be especially remembered as a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Friends will be received from 3 P.M. until time of Prayer Service at 7 P.M. on Tuesday at the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, 229-231 First Street, Conemaugh, Rev. Father Robert Ruston. Private inurnment will be held at the convenience of the family.
