Boes – Robert J., 92, Geistown Borough, went to be with the Lord on August 3, 2015 in Raleigh, NC. Born on February 28, 1923 in Johnstown, son of Norbert A. and Mary (Schilling) Boes. Preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Dorothy Gallagher, Louise Boes, Sr. Pauline Sisters of the Devine Providence, Agnes Heidenthal, and Pauline Boes; brothers Norbert, George, and Joseph Boes; brothers-in-law Joseph Gallagher and James Heidenthal and sisters-in-law Madeline (Kist) Boes and Ruth (Kist) Boes. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Nancy A. (Buck) Boes, Geistown Borough; children, Thomas F., Geistown Borough; MaryAnn, wife of Danny Barnes, Youngsville, NC; siblings, Raymond and wife Ruth (Mahan) Boes, Geistown Borough, Imelda Schiffauer and husband Richard of Canfield, Ohio. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and grand nephews. Bob was a 1941 graduate of Johnstown Catholic High School. He was a US Army Veteran serving during WW II. He retired in 1984 from Nabisco after 32 years of service. He was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church and the Richland American Legion Post #849. Bob was also a member of the Retired Men’s Club of Johnstown, where he would serve in the kitchen every summer for their annual picnics. Bob and his wife Nancy, enjoyed playing tennis up until his early 80’s. They both enjoyed square dancing thru the years. Bob and Nancy also enjoyed spending their winters in Florida. He loved working in his yard as well as planting vegetables and flowers until he turned 90. Bob could always be seen walking the streets of Richland and Geistown. Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. on Friday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where Vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Fr. David S. Peles, Pastor. Committal will be at Richland Mausoleum with military rites conducted by Menoher Post #155 VFW Ritual Team. The family suggests contributions be directed to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123 or to a charity of one’s choice in memory of Robert. On line condolences may be posted to www.wharrisfuneralhome.com.
