Birtle â Robert F., âBobâ, 82, Richland Township, went to be with the Lord on March 17, 2014 at Windber Hospice. Born on August 29, 1931 in Johnstown, son of Leonard M. and Velma R. (McMillan) Birtle. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Leonard L. and sister-in-law, Lois J. (Wingard) Birtle. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Lois A. (Trent) Birtle; children, Jeanne A., wife of Jeffrey M. Bracken, Erie, PA, Bruce R. and his companion, Laura L. Mills, South Fork, PA, Sharon K., wife of Dennis J. Hunt, Lake City, PA, and Douglas S. and companion, Sandy C. Schoon, Richland Township; grandchildren, Brett J. and Rebecca A. Birtle, Emily A. and Levi J. Hunt and several nieces and nephews. Bob was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He retired from Bethlehem Steel after 32 years of service as a welder/Turn Foreman. After he retired from Bethlehem Steel he was employed for 27 years as a school bus driver. He was a member of Laurel Ridge Sportsmenâs Club; Chestnut Ridge Rod and Gun Club; charter member of Solomon Run Volunteer Fire Company and Life member of Menoher Post #155 V.F.W. Bob enjoyed gardening, woodworking, fishing, and hunting. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday and from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, with the Rev. John W. Manges officiating. Entombment will be at Richland Cemetery Mausoleum with military rites conducted by Menoher Post #155 VFW Ritual Team.
