Robert R. Betts

Betts, Robert R., 86, of Johnstown. Went to be with the Lord Jan. 8, 2018, at Conemaugh Medical Center with family at his bedside. Born Aug. 27, 1931, in Johnstown. Son of the late William R. and Caroline M. (Himes) Betts. Also preceded in death by beloved wife, Dorothy L. (Urban); siblings, John, Bernard, Charles, George, Clarence, Joseph, Agatha, Helene, Catherine Fry, Rita Long and Ann Istvan; mother- in- law, Carrie Urban Safko; and father- in- law, Joseph Urban. Survived by beloved daughter, Leslie M. Galloway; dear friend, Rose Marie Fabina; and favorite nephew, Jack Calka and wife, Barb; also, numerous nieces and nephews. Army Veteran of Korean War. Formerly employed at Bethlehem Steel and retired from SCI Cresson. Former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and St. Columba Catholic Church.  Bob enjoyed bowling, playing poker, going to casinos and horse races, sitting on his back porch watching and feeding the birds and furry critters. He loved and enjoyed life. Friends received 3-7 PM Thursday at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland where Vigil service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 AM Friday at St. Francis Catholic Church, Barron Ave. Fr. Anthony Francis Spilka, OFM Conv. Committal at Grandview Cemetery Mausoleum.
