Richard G. Kalinyak

Kalinyak – Richard G., 73, Portage, went to be with the Lord on July 25, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center. Born on October 31, 1942 in East Conemaugh, son of Michael and Mary (Yewcic) Kalinyak. Preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Thomas and Michael, and sister-in-law, Donna Lee O’Dowd. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Janet A. (Dyson) Kalinyak, Portage; son, Richard J., married to the former Nicole Shedlock, Lilly, PA; siblings, Elaine M., wife of Lytton Croft, Wesley Chapel, Edward J, married to the former Doris McDowell, and William Kalinyak all of East Taylor Township, Donna J., wife of Anthony Catanese, Canonsburg, PA, Paul S., married to the former Loretta Cuturilo, East Conemaugh, and Kathleen A., wife of John Russin, Wesley Chapel; several nieces, nephews and many friends, including special friend, Steve Mastovich. Rich was a 1962 graduate of East Conemaugh High School. He was a US Army Veteran served during the Vietnam War. Rich was part owner of Kal Brother’s Inc., where he was a skilled carpenter for many years. He was a member of Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church, East Conemaugh Borough. Rich loved all animals, especially his horses. Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. on Sunday at the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, Conemaugh, where Parastas will be held at 7 p.m. Panachida will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday at the funeral chapel followed by Divine Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church, Rev. Dr. Robert F. Oravetz. Committal will be at Grandview Cemetery Mausoleum with military rites conducted by Menoher Post #155 VFW Ritual Team. The family suggests contributions be directed to Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church, 217 Fourth Street, Conamugh, PA 15909 or to the Humane Society of Cambria County, Inc., 743 Galleria Drive Extension, Johnstown, PA 15904 in memory of Richard.
