Barber – Richard D., “Dick”, 90, Richland, went to be with the Lord on March 27, 2024 at Arbutus Park Manor. Born on April 24, 1933 in Johnstown, son of Nicholas M. Barber and Vera (Hostetler) Mock. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Eugene; sister, Carol Good; step father, Joseph G. Mock Sr.; step brother, Joseph G. Mock Jr., step sister, Milicent Mabon; son-in-law, Donald Parker, and daughter-in-law, Nancy Barber.
He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Marjean (McDonald) Barber; son, Steven (Rebecca) Barber, Fort Wayne, IN; daughters, Janice Parker, Gibsonia, PA, and Sharon (Gary) Pfister, Tipp City, OH; grandchildren, Jennifer (Christopher) Lieggi, Christopher (Amanda) Barber, Stephanie (Jeriah) McMillan, Mark (Kelly) Parker, Rachel Parker, and her fiancé, Patrick Alexander, and Daniel, Jonathan, and Michael Pfister; great grandchildren, Maximus, Ezekiel, Esther, Meredith, Josiah, and Talia; sister-in-law, Rita Barber, South Fork; brother-in-law, Roger Good, Seward; half-brother, Thomas Barber, Connecticut, and several nieces and nephews.
Dick was a 1951 graduate of Johnstown High School. He was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. Dick retired from PENELEC after 39 years of service as a Supervisor. He was a member of the PENELEC Retirees Club, and former President of Amperes Retirement Club. Dick was an active member of the former Trinity United Methodist Church, where he held many offices, and taught Sunday School for over 45 years. He was a member of Belmont Community Church. Dick volunteered at the food pantry at Franklin Street United Methodist Church. He enjoyed painting and also playing cards with his friends. Dick loved his entire family, had a great sense of humor, and will be missed by all. He was a devout Christian who loved the Lord.
Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. on Friday, April 5th, at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, and from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. at Saturday, April 6th, at Belmont Community Church, with the Rev. Tom Moore officiating. Entombment will be at Grandview Mausoleum with military rites conducted by Menoher Post #155 VFW Ritual Team.
