Reed M. May

May – Reed M., 90, Johnstown, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2016 at Westmont Woods. He was born on May 20, 1926 in Jerome, PA. Son of Harper and Edith (Adams) May. Preceded in death by his parents; son, Reed “Skipper” May Jr. and siblings, Harry, Aillene, and Paul. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Josephine E. (Buzzard) May, Johnstown; son, Dennis W., married to the former Kathleen M. Janisko, Greensburg, PA; grandchildren, Reed (Robin) May III, Johnstown, Michelle (Joe) Androstic, Greensburg, PA, and Michael May, Greensburg, PA; great grandchildren, Bree May, Johnstown, Reed May IV, Johnstown, Luke and Kaylee Androstic, Greensburg, PA; sister, Charmaine Roadman, New Bern, NC; many nieces, nephews and many friends. Reed was a Conemaugh Township High School graduate. He was a US Navy Veteran serving during WWII. Reed retired after 37 years of service at US Steel, where he was employed as a Supervisor. He was a member of Moxham Church of the Brethren; life member of the Conemaugh Valley Det. #287 Marine Corps. League; actively involved with the Young Marines; life member of B.P.O.E. #175 Johnstown Lodge, Menoher Post #155 V.F.W. and the Richland American Legion Post #849. Reed enjoyed watching sports as well as hunting, fishing, bowling, and working in his yard. He loved his entire family, especially his grandchildren. Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland Township and from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Moxham Church of the Brethren, with Rev. William W. Wenger officiating. Interment will be at Richland Cemetery with military rites conducted by Conemaugh Valley Det. #287 Marine Corps. League Ritual Team.
